The Beautiful Reflection of the Moon

WALT use the correct structer for an explanation writing.

The moon does not shine from it’s own light. It is reflected by the sun at all times. On a clear summer night, no light hides any part of the moon and so you can see it shine brightly.

The moon is always in the sky every night. It could sometimes be a full moon or a half moon. During the day, the sun shines brighter than the moon. The moon uses the light from the sun.

After the sun has gone down , the moon starts to rise. The moon can reflect off water as well. When you go to a beach at night, you can see the beautiful reflection of the moon. In fact the moon controls the ocean.
The moon is important because of the way it affects the movements of the sea and brightens our night.

The strong powerful wind

WALT use the correct structure for an explanation writing.
I know I can do this when I have an introduction and application. File:Sunset at Royd Moor Wind Farm.jpg
Wind is the natural movement through the air. Sometimes it could be a strong wind. Sometimes it could be a slow wind. The wind could also be warm or cold.

Where there is strong wind it means the air is moving quickly. When there is light wind it means the air is moving slowly. Wind can create very big tornados. It could sometimes create a light storm. A wind that is blowing from the North is called the northerly. The wind that is blowing from the south is called the southerly.

We get wind because some places are warmer than others. We also get wind because the warm air heats up and becomes light and rises. The cool air moves in to replace it. Wind blows in any directions. Wind blows around everywhere.

Wind is important because it helps the air to circulate around us.

40 days and 40 nights

WALT understand the meaning of Lent.
I know I have learnt this when I can write an explanation writing.
This is my explanation writing.
Lent is a time when Jesus suffered for 40 days and 40 nights in the desert without any food.

Lent starts on Wednesday which is known as Ash Wednesday. On Ash Wednesday we go to church and the priest puts ashes on our forehead in the shape of a cross. The ashes are made out of palm leaves that were used from a long time ago. In the olden days people wore sacks and sprinkled ashes over them to say that they were sorry. The ashes remind us to turn back to God.

Lent is the time when we give up something we really like or something that is important to us. We have to keep it up for 40 days and 40 nights. That is how long Jesus fasted for in the desert. After that 40 days and nights we could use it again.

Lent is important because it reminds us when Jesus journeyed in the desert and fasted for 40 days and 40 nights.

Learn, create, share and reflect

Saint Patrick's school is a school where children learn, create, share and reflect.

Saint Patrick’s school is a Catholic school and a  place where we learn, create, share and reflect. We are taught to get better and better in each class, so that we can be prepared for our future schooling.

Saint Patrick’s school has 6 classes and goes from year 0 to 8. School starts at 8:45 am and ends at 2:45 pm. We have first break at 10:45 am, and second break at 12:45 pm.  We pray a lot at different times of the day. Once in the morning, then at lunch and when school is finishing. We all wear the same uniform that represents for our school. We wear white tops, green skirt/shorts, dark green jumper and black or brown shoes.

The first step we do in our learning is research the information up, using key words. Once we have found enough information we create a writing, drawing or presentation to share what we found. Once we’ve finished our creation, we put it on our blog where everyone in the world can see our work.During our production stage, we check our work to make sure that we haven’t made any mistakes.

School is important for us because it is where we learn important skills that will help us in the future. We  can learn new things, use new objects and make new friends.
